2nd Quarter - Worked with Ms. King with our "OBOSOC Playwriting" Elective - Students did a great job writing the script for the play performed March 17th and 18th.
1st Quarter - Architectural Design through use of Isometric and Orthogonal Design - Great houses!
Specials:
The first three weeks of specials I had students complete three different inventories
to get to know more about them as individuals and learners. The first one was an
interest inventory to find out more about what topics that are truly interested in
learning more about. The next inventory was a learning styles inventory. The last
inventory was to determine the preferred method for the student to share what he/she
has learned.
1st Grade Specials:
Author Study - Eric Carle
We will be studying Eric Carle as an author and illustrator over the nest few months.
As a class, we will used a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast several of his books.
Books include The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Very Quiet Cricket, The Very Clumsy
Click Beetle, and The Very Busy Spider. Activities will be integrated to include Mathematics,
Language Arts, Science, and Art.
3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Specials:
Students will be given the opportunity to research topics of their choice and produce
projects using their expression preference (topic & preference determined by
inventories). Students will also be introduced to some new books in the library.
Spring 3rd grade focus on nonfiction text features and structures.
2nd Grade Specials:
We worked on comparing and contrasting, traditional and fractured fairy tales. Then taking what we had learned each student wrote their on fractured fairy tale based on the traditional fairy tale, Goldilocks and the Three Bears retold by Marshall.
Kindergarten Specials:
We will study the Five Little Monkeys series by Christelow. They will also learn songs to go with two of the books. The culminating activity will be having the class write a Five Little Monkeys story together.
